Insurance and Payment

What insurances do you take?

Please call the office to ask what insurances we take, as the plans frequently change.

By law, copays are due at the time services are rendered.

Do I have to pay a copay for each visit?

There is a copay due for each visit, including follow-up visits.

What methods of payment does Westchester Pediatrics accept?

We accept cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover.

Will the services you provide be covered by my insurance?

As a patient, it is in your best interest to know your medical plan coverage and responsibility for any deductibles, coinsurance, or copay amounts. We strive to provide services that are covered by those health plans we accept. However, as all medical plans are different, you may be responsible for additional copay or deductible and coinsurance may be applied.

Is there a charge for missed appointments?

Is there an extra charge for weekend hours?

No, although your health insurance plan may require an additional copay or apply a deductible or coinsurance, as it is considered an after hours service.

Appointments / Office

What are your hours?

  • Monday – Thursday: 9 am – 6 pm
  • Friday: 9 am – 5 pm
  • Saturday: 9am – 4 pm
  • Sunday: 10 am – 4 pm

We are closed Monday – Saturday from 12-1 for lunch.

Are there separate waiting rooms for sick and well children? Newborns?

Yes, we have separate waiting rooms for well and sick children. We also have a nursery for well babies less than 2 months of age.

Will I always see the same doctor?

When you schedule an appointment with a particular doctor you may choose to continue to see the same doctor for all your scheduled appointments. In order to keep waiting times down, sick visits are usually seen by the first doctor available.

What if I have a question for the doctor?

Our trained medical assistant can answer most of your questions. Should you specifically want to speak to a doctor, a message can be left for you and the doctor will call you back. Please keep in mind that the doctors answer their phone calls during lunchtime and the end of the day so we ask that you not leave urgent messages for the doctors.

Must a parent accompany a child on his visit?

All children and adolescents under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Will you see my child in the hospital? What hospitals do you go to?

We admit patients to Baptist Hospital and Miami Children’s Hospital. We see newborns at South Miami Hospital and Baptist Hospital.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

We try to offer same-day sick appointments. Well-child visits are always available in less than 2 weeks.

Will you see walk-ins?

Walk-ins are welcome on Saturdays and Sundays only. We have a receptionist available Monday – Friday after 8 am, so we ask that you call for an appointment. Walk-ins disrupt the flow of the office and can expect to have a long wait.

What do I do if my child is sick after hours or on weekends?

For non-emergency concerns, our answering service will forward your message to a registered nurse who will triage your call.
