Margarita Fernandez-Pujol, MD, DABP

Dr. Margarita Fernandez-Pujol

Board-Certified Pediatrician

Dr. Margarita Fernandez-Pujol, who is originally from Havana, Cuba, received her bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Miami in 1984 and her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1988. She completed her internship and residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she was assistant chief resident.

In July 1991, Dr. Fernandez-Pujol joined Westchester Pediatrics. She is also on the volunteer faculty at the University of Miami Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Fernandez-Pujol is board certified in pediatrics. She is fluent in Spanish and married with three daughters.

Cristina R. Montiel, MD, DABP

Dr. Cristina R. Montiel received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida in 1987 and her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1991. Dr. Montiel completed her residency in pediatrics at Jackson Memorial Hospital in 1994 and joined Westchester Pediatrics soon thereafter.

Dr. Montiel is board certified in pediatrics. She is fluent in Spanish and married with two sons.

Johannes I. Lopez, MD, DABP

Board-Certified Pediatrician

Dr. Johannes I. Lopez received his pre-med bachelor’s degree from CETEC in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic in 1984 and his medical degree from Eugenio Maria de Hostos University in Santo Domingo in 1987. He worked at Jackson Memorial Hospital and at the Headache & Neurologic Center of Philadelphia before completing his pediatric residency at Miami Children’s Hospital in 1999.

During his residency, Dr. Lopez was a member of the Critical Care Transport Team, transporting critically ill children from outlying hospitals and foreign countries.

From 1999 to 2007, Dr. Lopez worked as a pediatric emergency physician at Homestead Hospital. He became a general pediatrician at Westchester Pediatrics in 2000. Since 2009, he is also employed at Miami Children's Hospital as an urgent care and emergency room physician.

Dr. Lopez is board certified in pediatrics. He is fluent in Spanish and has two daughters.

Mimi Abella-Blanco, MD, FAAP

Dr. Mimi Abella-Blanco

Board-Certified Pediatrician

Dr. Mimi Abella-Blanco received her bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Miami in 1986 and her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1991. She completed her pediatric internship and residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she served as chief resident.

From 1995 to 2000, Dr. Abella-Blanco was a staff pediatrician and attending physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She then spent five years as a partner at Miami Pediatrics followed by two years as a senior associate at Pediatric Associates. Dr. Abella-Blanco joined Westchester Pediatrics in 2007. She is also on the volunteer faculty at the University of Miami Department of Pediatrics.

Dr. Abella-Blanco is board certified in pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is fluent in Spanish. Dr. Mimi is married with three children, including a set of twins.
